[Author’s Note: The Medium is (re)launching on Substack a little later than planned. There were a few unexpected technical details that needed additional time to be resolved.
It is a reminder that this move is a work in progress!
Thank you for your patience during this move.]
Good morning!
The Medium is back on Substack, where it was formerly known as “PARQOR” from 2020 to 2022. If you are a first-time reader, The Medium was previously distributed by The Information from 2022 to 2025.
With a change in platform comes a reimagined editorial and analytical focus:
The Medium identifies essential signals on how technology is shaping the business of culture, and how the marketplace is evolving in response.
Why subscribe to The Medium?
Over five years and nearly 500 essays, I have demonstrated an ability to identify critical market signals before they become obvious. A helpful example of this my “2024 Media Predictions—The Hits & Misses”, where most of my predictions for 2024 ended up being right or directionally right (and in some cases, wrong).
In 2025, we are living through a relentless transformation of how culture is created, distributed, and monetized—one that is creating both unprecedented risk and opportunity for decision-makers.
Last year, The Medium dove headfirst into this dynamic with interviews of eight innovators in the generative AI space (these interviews can be found both in the archives and on The Information). They are building businesses at the frontiers of commercials, film production, gaming, music, YouTube… basically “culture”.
Whether they ultimately succeed or pivot, their visions and insights offer more clarity into the future than I have found anywhere else. Collectively, they offer a strong starting point for journeying deeper into this moment of market transformation to help you identify:
Market signals that popular trades and mainstream publications miss
Connections between technological evolutions and actionable business decisions
"White spaces" of opportunity to improve product, investment, and strategic decision-making
New conversations (in audio and video) with other pioneering creators, innovators and executives will highlight technological and creative breakthroughs with an eye to 2035 and beyond.
Who is The Medium for?
Creators: Gain foresight into tomorrow's creative opportunities and potential technological pivots that help you to adapt and stay relevant
Executives: Access decision-critical market signals typically obscured by mainstream reporting, enabling more confident strategic planning and resource allocation.
Investors: Identify emerging white spaces and market inflection points before they become obvious, strengthening your investment theses and timing

The Medium is an independent, reader-supported publication drawing on 20 years of corporate, entrepreneurial and analytical experience in digital media. There are two ways to access these insights:
Standard ($15/month or $180/year): Access to transcripts of in-depth interviews, essays sent 2x/week (~1,200 word essays, typically Mondays and Thursdays) and a library of past five years of analyses on the media business.
PARQOR Platinum ($499/year): Also includes monthly analyses and presentations of deeper themes across interviews, additional analyses related to past themes and an exclusive community of leading investors, entrepreneurs and executives from The Medium’s three years on The Information.
Launch Plan
At launch, every essay will be built upon three simple questions:
What is the “essential” market signal?
Why does the signal matter?
Is the signal bullish or bearish for the marketplace?
Standard and Platinum subscribers will receive additional analysis built upon past essays. A subscription will be required to access these past essays.
